Desert Island Democracy
Commissioned by Wealden District Council. A new short play for two actors: ‘Barry Man-Alone’ and its accompanying interactive workshop aimed at engaging 16-18 year olds with the democratic process through drama and active learning. The project was commissioned as part of Wealden District Council’s Democracy Week tour of Wealden secondary schools.
Star Tales - Star Trails
Created in partnership with Christchurch CE Primary School, St. Leonards; funded by Creative Partnerships. A fusion of creativity and learning through drama. This project has focused on Year 3 Learning Journeys, Year 4 Speaking and Listening and Year 1 Storytelling.

Created in partnership with Hawkes Farm Primary School, Hailsham; funded by Awards for All; developed through improvisation and focused on the healthy living agenda.
A series of workshops explore emotional health issues. The resulting play, set in the school playground, uses Brechtian techniques to educate and inform the audience.
Red Route
ACT ON IT holds a portfolio of community safety drama workshops and performance projects. In response to community safety issues, projects are developed in partnership and participant-led, with quality outcomes.
Damage 2 Step
Developed in partnership with Wealden Local Strategic Partnership, Wealden District Council regeneration and housing departments, Sussex Police, Youth Offending Team, Youth Services and schools. Funded by The Co-op Community Dividend Fund and an East Sussex County Council Global Grant. An inter-generational performance project looking at the fear of crime that culminated in a presentation event at Hailsham Pavilion with performers aged 14 – 94. Young people and sheltered housing residents met together for innovative ‘skill-swaps’. Sussex Police were involved throughout the project, providing research and case studies.
Beautiful Smile
Commissioned by Farnham Maltings; funded by Sussex Police Joint Initiative Fund.
ACT ON IT’s play explores different generations’ fear of crime and anti-social behaviour. Two actors and a chorus of young people tell the story of Stan. The play’s dialogue was inspired by the conversations between the generations that took place during Damage 2 Step ‘skill-swaps’. Beautiful Smile was performed in Village Halls with an original trumpet score.
Hot Dog
Created in partnership with the Children’s Fire and Burn Trust; funded by Awards for All and The Co-op Community Dividend Fund. Workshop performance looking at burn and scald safety awareness.
Hot Dog is performed by children for children as a peer teaching play. Based on a true story, Hot Dog, the safety hound, and his investigators check the audience’s learning throughout.
Slow Down – Big Brother Stu
Created in partnership with East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service; funded by Sussex Police Joint Initiative Fund. A new initiative delivering on young driver safety, speeding, road traffic crashes and car-related anti-social behaviour.
What’s the point?
Currently being developed in partnership with the Haslemere Youth Group; funded by Surrey Police.
Young people reflect upon the effects of their behaviour on the community. A core group of young people developed a pilot DVD looking at how drama can facilitate a community dialogue.
